Exploring Color and Form Through Motion

Created for the final project for a motion graphics elective class I took, the task of this project was to select an old postage stamp from a collection provided by my professor, deconstruct it, and animate it. I chose a Polish stamp from 1989.

Poland 1989 Stamp

I was immediately drawn the use of transparency and color in Poland's 1989 stamp from the World Stamp Expo, and loved that the composition is solely made up of type and simple shapes. The overlapping colors and intersections reminded me of the New York City subway map, which were a point of inspiration throughout my design process.

Storyboards

These storyboards were initially separate, but I incorporated frames and elements from each into my final animation.
